Vancouver First Half 2015

I don’t know how many years running, but the Vancouver First Half marathon is one of the toughest marathon tickets in BC.  Emails go out pretty early and it it sells out every year.  It has a lot of things going for it, this year the weather would be on the top of my list.

It was unreal how the fog rolled off the ocean when we came around Stanley park.  Has to be one of the best places to do an Urban run. If I wasn’t in so much pain looking down, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

This year a small group decided to not do the double drive downtown Vancouver for a race.  Booked at the Best Western hotel, about a half K up the street from the Roadhouse and got settled in Saturday after the package pick up.  We left Abbotsford at about 2 and had loads of time to grab the race bib at forerunners before 4.

8:30 race time gives you enough time to grab a coffee and stir about for awhile.  I was hoping for a bit more speed this year but I could tell the early season volume wasn’t there and the left side was a little tight from my hip slide on my bike last weekend.  Either way was good to get back out out blow up the lungs. Came in on a soft 1:21 was aiming for 1:18-maybe later in the year.

Next up, training camp in Sunny San Diego with Every Man Jack Triathlon team.
