Glenmore Reservoir
by Nathan on Jul.27, 2009, under regular day BS, running
While I was in Calgary I was able to spend my last day getting in a good size run. The weather was amazing so it made it pretty easy to get outdoors and enjoy the sun. I was lucky enough to stay at a place that was a near the Glenmore Reservoir, so I made my way over. I was told it was about a 20km tour which felt a little shorter but none the less, one of the better paved trails I’ve ran. The scenery was amazing, with high up views over looking the reservoir on the north side, to rolling hills out in the country and ended off with a quick run thru of heritage park.

Heritage Posters and music Store, Calgary
by Nathan on May.20, 2009, under regular day BS
When I was in Calgary I made a stop at a store called Heritage Posters and Music. It was only a few short blocks from the friends place I was staying at. Apparently they just moved from across the street to a much larger store. We had a few words with the owner, and was well worth our time. He was very knowledgeable and knows the industry. A good bulk of these Heritage posters are signed either by the artist who created them or the band. There had to be hundreds if not thousands of posters littered all over the walls with even more music and accessories.
Store is located on 1502 11th Avenue SW, in Calgary, Alberta. They have a website at www.heritageposters.ca. Like his online store, the actual store is cool on its own. They have jammed every inch with posters, music, cars, and anything that looks cool that deals with all those things. One of my favorite feature of the store was an old vintage car inside the store. The outside of the store is no different. Bright colors and posters all over the walls of the exterior. Its pretty hard to miss if your driving down 14th because the store is a piece of Heritage art. I had some fun taking pictures of the outside. This was one of my favorite stops on my trip.
Banff and Calgary Events
by Nathan on May.16, 2009, under Beer + ed, regular day BS
The few days in Banff managed to be a pretty successful with a mix of good luck with the weather. Had a lot of snow every day I was there but did manage to get some good shots from the top of Sulphur Mountain when it finally broke for a bit. It climbs to 2,281m at peak and then a few more meters after you walk up their skywalk. Pretty cool set up, I’m not sure that its worth 30 bucks for an 8 minute gondola ride. I ended up riding for free since I stole my buddies drivers license, apparently if you live in Banff or Canmore you can ride for free. After that did some spa clubbing up at the Rimrock resort with their pretty insane pool and hot tub combo since we knew someone saying there.
After my few days in Banff I managed to ram into Calgary yesterday afternoon. Did some walking around later in the evening and picked up a new backpack to go running with so I can carry my camera on my back while I’m out pounding the pavement. Ended up getting the mec Drangonfly 17 litre daypack, ran with it today and was pretty happy with it and also got some pretty good shots at the same time. Weather is nice and warm, nice change from the snow storm in banff that was going on a few days ago.
Later on the night turned to drunkered party with a stop a new pub then a trip to the saddledom to watch the Roughreck lacrosse team win the league championship. Pretty crazy game, good time and looked like it was close to being a sell out. Here an article about the game… After the game we ended up a some bar, was pretty fun til they blew the fuse on the sound system and took them for ever to get it up again. After that not sure what happened but my head hurt when I got up.
Check out my flickr for the updates on my shots of the week. Took some nice shot while running today, we’ll see if I get around to adding them today.
