Photo Thursday on Friday :: Weekend

Headed out Thursday after work for the show in Calgary at Endeavor Arts.  Spent Friday and Saturday getting things ready for Saturday, then headed out to Banff for some late season ski touring.

Ready to go.

Got some sun on the second day.

First lap of the day.

Hard to see the track after my ass slide on the first run and got the camera filled with snow.

Last one is usually the best one.

Project :: Lightbox

I’ve been toying with this idea for a long time. My grandpa was going to throw out all these slides that he didn’t want anymore, so I decided to save 192 of them from the trash. I came up with a lighting box concept, similar to ones that I have built before, but this one will be an actual lighting box.

I will be making a few more of these as more slides come in and with be for sale on the art project website. Be looking at about 350-400 dollars for one of similar size

The basic materials used. The frame size will be 20 inches by 4 foot. Perfect size for over the fireplace. Also have 2x2 and 1x3 wood for the structural framing. It's already primed white..

Basic frame built with the 2x2 and a 33 inch light and switch.

Glass inserted and is cut to fit the 20 inch by 4 foot frame. The glass was placed in between the 2x2 frame and the 1x3 outer frame. All ready started gluing the slides to the glass. Used a weldbon glue that was a quick dry.

I tried sorting the slides into colours and glued in a sequnced but didn't have enough choice of colours and slides to really make it work. Total of 192 slides, and took about 45 to an hour to glue and sort them all out.

Final result...pretty happy with the final product.

IMC ink work.

Some shots from this afternoon, Dan and I didn’t endure enough pain so we took a trip down to i-candy.  We didn’t go for the generic symbol that you probably have seen on  a lot of  legs  if you where down watching the Ironman on the  August 29th.  Spent quite a few hours trying to figure out how to draw it out, pleased with how it looks on Dan’s bicep.  I ended up getting the IMC on my forearm, with the three characters, swim, bike, run, on my rip cage.

Abbotsford Photo Thursday.

Photos from yesterday for today.  Shots around my house, went for a wonder.  Got some happy shots before it started pissing rain.  Will be adding some pix to our stock digital downloads section on TAPO.

This was the display window @ Champagne and Lace, with some reflection off the street.

Interesting house just down the street from me, the roof is just weird.

The old court house at the end of my street, shot first thing in the morning.

Framing and Presenting

Been playing around with a few ideas for wood frames, and different ways to present art.  In a previous post I had some fun with chemical stain and good old fire.  Some shots of what the original frame looks like with out fire with a different piece.  Looking for some feedback…which is better.   These pieces have been added to the ART PRO.  If you want one, try out our new ordering system, its pretty mental, in a good way.

September show preview @ the fall

Placing some imagery together for the upcoming show for the month of  September, and had a bit of a slow down.  Ended up shipping a few images off to the press tonight.  See how everything matches up and how well the colors look hopefully tomorrow night.  I am doing something similar to what I did for the show in Calgary but with a little different technique and a few more steps.  :: link ::

Here are the  images I am currently working with and hopefully by friday I’ll have a pretty good idea of an end result.  I’ll show all the steps once everything is put together.
