::90 dollar Rustic Kitchen Table::

This idea came when we had a large amount of cedar left over from a house we helped demo.  My Dad used most of it on his own house for a reno, but we still had a good amount left over for some creative projects.  The material was 1 and half inch tongue and groove cedar.  Very nice stuff, but required some reworking to make it usable.  Whole project was about 90 bucks, thanks to free cedar and reusing the legs from the old table.  (90 bucks was for stain, lacquer, and sandpaper.)

Before I could start anything the wood needed to dry out to mill it and put it together with out it twisting and changing shape. Since it was cold out here I threw it in the shed for about a week with a heater in the room.

Laying out the pieces. Table will be 6 feet long by 4 feet. Wanted longer but would't work well in the space that I have.

Added a piece of cedar on the end to cover up the tongue and groove and then sanded the edges round.

Reusing the old legs to keep the cost down. Had to add some lenght and then sanded them down and roughed 'em up to match.

I added a personal touch with a photo of the tree I like in my from yard. It was a ink transfer from a photocopied image.

The finished product. 4 layers of smelly lacquer. I got pretty high the first few times. Ate chocolate after.
