Training Camp #2 !?
by Nathan on Jun.21, 2010, under regular day BS
Bombed out to to the Kananaskis country for some leg burn and a change in scenery. Had to battle some pretty crappy weather the first day so we spent some serious time in the kreeper after a nice up and down run thru the bike path @ Peter Lougheed area of the park . After the rolly run on the first day of the mini camp, day two the bikes where ready to tackle the freshly swept and opened hwy 40. Our daily average was really down on this ride, but it was probably one of the better ones I have done. We reach about 2200m at peak with about 2-5 inch on snow on the ground when we reached the top.
First Day of riding after two days of rain.
Second day of riding, Thnx Cam for the kick in the ass.

Big weeks ahead

Getting into the heavy training and trying to get a little more creative in how I go about my day. On Saturday I did a quick swim in the morning and then jumped on my bike and rode out to Harrison , and finished up with an 8km run around the old neighborhood. Felt nice finally getting some good weather to get out and my burnt right arm took full advantage of it.
Sunday I got up and ran into the city for some pretend open water swimming at Kits pool. I wish this huge ass pool was closer to my hub in Abby so I could hit it up a little more often. I love how long the pool is,I don’t loose count and don’t have to turn so much. Another kick ass feature of this long ass pool is that its salt water, so you don’t feel all chemical-ed up once you get out.
Oliver half iron race Weekend
by Nathan on Jun.09, 2010, under running
Some photos from the week in Oliver, BC from the Half Iron. 1.9km swim, 93 km bike, 21 km run. Felt good, and ready to try and do sub-5 halfer. Ended up with 5:11 and room to cut time. I wish someone had video of the transition from the swim to bike. Got dragged a few meters by the wetsuit strippers and then couldn’t get my racing shirt on, felt like a circus act. Then proceeded to get my ass handed to me on the bike but…. then got some of it back on the run.
Fun weekend and already eying up the half iron in Vancouver on July 4th.
Run for Water 2
by Nathan on Jun.03, 2010, under regular day BS, running
Last Sunday morning was another race, this time it was the Run for Water just down the street from my house. This was the second time I have ran it and it looks like it keeps growing every year. Its not the fastest course with a line up of rolling hills right in the middle of it all. The general design of the course is nice though built of mainly a giant loop, not too many twists and turns which makes for a good way to keep the leaders in view.
500 bucks for th winner which I wasn’t even close but did grab 9th and on the 12th I’ll find out what I won. Hopefully its not a donkey. Actually if it was donkey that would be sweet.
Ended up with a 1:28. Almost my split for the full, had some fun @ 8km with a 2-3 minute set back when a gel went down the wrong tube. Was on pace for a 38-39 10k, ended up with 42.00. Whoops! Feel pretty happy with the time, no tapper and was felling the 3 hours of riding and short run from Saturday. Got my eyes on Oliver this week-end and the Vancouver Scotia half on the 27th. Thinking I might do a mini tapper to get my time down where I think it could be for the 27th.
Just packing up for Oliver half iron and heading out Friday night.
